Abstract
This 'story' offers an account of the opening days of 3rd Ypres, in Edmund Blunden hands. It was written shortly after the experience, and can be compared to 'The Crash of the Pillars' section of the memoir 'Undertones of War' (1928). This page discusses what happened when the signalling section went 'over the top' on 31 July 1917.
