Discusses the situation of the war and the hopes that the 'Liberal Elements' of the Central Powers will respond to the Allies / dislikes the position that Great Britain must 'get even' with the Kaiser / likes the approach of the 'Westminster Gazette' / identifies poems written in the trenches / feeling 'dry' / instructs Marion Scott to wait a bit before sending poems to newspapers / asks if she has heard that 'Severn and Somme' has sold out / mentions that he spent a pleasant night with a fellow soldier and his wife.
