Owen, Wilfred (1893-1918)

Abstract

Written from the Advanced Horse Transport Depot. Now back at rest in Abbeville, Owen describes his most recent tour of the Front Line. Heavy snow made the conditions almost intolerable, especially as his Platoon had to stay in no man's land. This event formed the basis for his poem 'Exposure'. Concludes by stating that he has to go on a Transport Course. In a 'P.S.' Owen alludes to a previous visit to Abbeville, and continues his description of the 'ugliness' of the Western Front. This is letter no. 482 in Ed. 'Wilfred Owen Collected Letters'.
