Abstract
Pvt John Middlemass. Joined the 7th Btn. Royal Scots as a Territorial in 1909 for four years. Discharged 1913. Joined regular Army in time to go to Gallipoli.
Although a survivor of the the Quintinshill (Gretna)rail disaster he unfortunately contracted Enteric Fever and died after being returned to a hospital in Southampton.
Included is a letter from an Edinburgh Solicitor concerning the death of a Robert Middlemass in the rail crash
