Abstract
Letter sent to the mother of Private William Lowe of the 13th East Yorks by the Roman Catholic Chaplain of the 30th Casualty Clearing Station of the British Expeditionary Force, breaking the news of his death. The letter says that Lowe was brought into the Casualty Clearing Station badly wounded, and that "His case was quite hopeless; but I am pleased to say he did not appear to be in any great pain." The Chaplain then describes administering absolution and the last rites to Lowe, and says that he will be buried in the British Military Cemetery at Aubigny in Artois. Part of a collection relating to William Lowe.
