Abstract

'TRINIDAD TO THE TRENCHES: Men from Trinidad who have answered the Empire's Call, march to the Mansion House and receive the City's welcome from the Lord Mayor'. The troops are formally inspected by officers in greatcoats, before marching (with band) through the streets of London. All the soldiers are white. (The Mayor's reception itself is not shown.) II. 'HELP FOR SERBIA: British and French troops landing at the base. The difficulty in disembarking the horses is vividly shown'. Shots of French troops marching past; horses and empty carts are shown passing along a country road while British soldiers stand around idly (one of them is asleep). At the quayside, a horse is lowered from a ship in a harness; the horse is in obvious distress and struggles wildly to escape. III. 'GUNS FROM CHAMPAGNE: Parisians go to see the howitzers, Taubes and many machine guns, taken from the enemy during the last battle in Champagne'. A large assembly of weapons, including artillery, machine guns and even aeroplanes, is laid out in a courtyard, where a sizeable number of people wander round inspecting them.
